Pärnu county municipalities discuss cooperation models

From 30.-31. March 2017 the spring seminar of Pärnu County’s Municipality Union took place. The central topic was the future cooperation between the municipalities of Pärnu County against the backdrop of losing the county government level and the assignments of new tasks to the local municipalities. The potential changes were introduced by Väino Tõemets from the Ministry of Finances. Geomedia employees held an introductory presentation and conducted three workshops. During these workshops, sector specific cooperation activities were defined, cooperation models were selected and the strengths and weaknesses of different scenarios were discussed. The participants also prepared individual tasks with the objective to offer best solutions for conducting regional cooperation that takes into account the specifics of Pärnu County, helps to develop a county identity and an effective management of the region, incl. the coordinated preparation of development activities and growth of entrepreneurial competitiveness. According to the data of the Ministry of Finance, 1.5 Million Euro are planned for regional development activities.
