Tallinn Old Town seminar

In the framework of the Tallinn Day 2016 a seminar on “Tallinn Old Town – Meeting Point for World Heritage and the World of Tourism“ took place on the 13th of May 2016. Nowadays, Tallinn Old Town celebrates the 50th anniversary since its declaration as heritage conservation area. What is more, next year it belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage List since 20 years. The seminar participants discussed topics related to the Old Town as heritage and tourist site as well as life- and work environment. International practices were introduced by presenters from Finland and Latvia. Geomedia consultant Rivo Noorkõiv discussed the topic “Tallinn Old Town – Development Trap?“. Based on the experiences of Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, at the end of the seminar ideas were envisioned how to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Tallinn belonging to the UNESCO World Heritage List.
