Forum for Village Elders
07.12.2022On 21st of January 2017 the forum for village elders took place in Tallinn under the title “What can the community voice be in the new administrative order?“ organized by the Estonian Village Movement Kodukant. At the meeting the performance of village elders over time as well as their role for the communities’ development and during the changes encountered by the administrative reform were discussed. The forum also included a presentation by the Minister for Public Administration Mihhail Korb. Moreover, six topical workshops took place, out of which one was moderated by Geomedia consultant Rivo Noorkõiv. The discussion focused on the cooperation between village elders in unified municipalities. As a result of all workshops, recommendations were prepared for a better performance of village elders and village development groups within the framework of Kodukant in order for them to be able to react to the ongoing changes and be effective leaders for the communities.
