Geomedia’s new employee Bianka Plüschke

Our new colleague, Bianka Plüschke, was selected in an international competition in the context of the International Training Network “Socio-economic and Political Responses to Regional Polarisation in Central and Eastern Europe” (RegPol²). Her main duty is to prepare a PhD thesis on “Development Perspectives for Village Communities in Rural Estonia”. Her research focuses on regional identity and its impact on regional development and peripheralization processes.

Bianka was born in 1986 in Neubrandenburg, Germany. She studied Social Sciences, Ethnology and History at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Freie Universität Berlin and the University of Warsaw (M.A. degree in 2013). In the years 2013-2014, she was employed a E-Learning and Career Services coordinator at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Before that, she worked as WE TV moderator and production assistant, university teaching and research assistant as well as for the German voluntary social service. In the years 2003-2004 she was an exchange student in Estonia. During her studies, she participated in summer and language schools in Estonia, Poland, Turkey, Belarus and Russia. She speaks German, English, Estonian and learns Russian. Her hobbies are theatre, art and travelling.
